At the end of 2015, the inventory of modern industrial and logistic spaces in Romania exceeded 2 million square metres. Bucharest ranks first with 47% of these spaces, i.e. 960,000 sqm, followed by Timisoara - 13%, Ploiesti - 11%, Cluj - 7% and Brasov - 7%.
In 2016, the deliveries of new spaces will exceed 300,000 sqm, which will translate into a 15% increase the inventory of industrial and logistic spaces in Romania. The bulk will be delivered in Bucharest – 63% (approximately 190,000 sqm), followed by Cluj - 8% (25,000 sqm), Brasov, Ploiesti and Sibiu, with 5% (15,000 sqm each).
“In 2016, Bucharest – the largest logistic and industrial market in Romania – is expected to see new deliveries of around 190,000 sqm. This will be the highest level reached in the past seven years. At the end of Q4 2016, the inventory of industrial and logistic spaces in Bucharest will be 20% higher”, said Mihaela Galatanu, Head of Research at DTZ.
In 2015, new industrial and logistic developments are expected in Cluj, Sibiu, Brasov, Pitesti and Ramnicu Valcea.
The demand for industrial developments will follow an upward trend, being supported by a boost in demand and by the need of Retail, Logistics and Distribution companies to expand their operations.
